Supervised by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, action is being taken under the law against illicit trading across the nation.
On 5 and 7 May, the combined teams captured two vehicles – a Mitsubishi Fuso bus and a Daewoo bus (K70,000,000) that carried K3,180,000 worth of undocumented Japan-made second-hand refrigerators and Thai-made foodstuffs at the Nyaungkhashay x-ray checkpoint, and K 7,581,794 worth of illegal timbers in Toungoo and Pyay districts.
On 6 May, the Ayeyawady Region Illegal Trade Eradication Special Task Force seized K2,489,753 worth of illegal timbers in Pathein and Hinthada districts.
On 7 May, the Yangon Region Illegal Trade Eradication Special Task Force seized K88,466,000 worth of unregistered UAE-made Borouge plastic resin and Thai-made Encore tyres, and one Mitsubishi Fuso truck and one Hino truck that carried these illegal goods at Ywathagyi Dry Port.
On the same day, the Customs Department also captured K 47,901,285 worth of six unregistered products, including 1260 kilogrammes of Ass Roller and 150 GST Turbochargers at Myanmar Industrial Port and K 441,000 worth of 60 kilogrammes of Pigment Timbasol at Asia World Port Terminal, totalling K48,342,285.
Similarly, the Nay Pyi Taw Illegal Trade Eradication Special Task Force seized K 1,281,722 worth of illegal teaks and timbers in Lawe and Ottarathiri districts.
The Mon State Illegal Trade Eradication Special Task Force seized K6,250,000 worth of three illegal goods beside Mawlamyine-Kyaikmaraw road in Painnegon village in Kyaikmaraw township.
The Magway Region Illegal Trade Eradication Special Task Force also seized one unregistered Honda Fit and one Mitsubishi Outlander, approximately K10,000,000 at the entrance to Magway and one unregistered Honda Fit worth K10,000,000 at the Ayeyawady bridge checkpoint. Moreover, K210,000 worth of 60 gallons of raw petroleum and K5,000,000 worth of an unregistered Honda CRV, totalling K25,210,000 on Minbu-Padan road in Minbu township.
On 8 May, the Kachin State Illegal Trade Eradication Special Task Force seized undocumented 33,040 kilogrammes of ammonium nitrate (K33,040,000) and three vehicles (K90,000,000) that carried these products, totalling K123,040,000 near Yayaye Creek Bridge, Kanhla village in Namti township.
The cases were taken action under the respective laws.
The Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee reported that 28 arrests were made on four consecutive days from 5 to 8 May, with an estimated value of K375,841,554.
