MYANMA Railways (MR) sells the advance train tickets at the advance ticket sale counter of Yangon Railway Station on Bogyoke Aung San Road in Mingala Taungnyunt Township.
Currently,
the MR operates Yangon-Mandalay No 5 and No 3 Up trains, Yangon-Pyay No 71 Up
train and Yangon-Mawlamyine No 89 Up train. The passengers can buy the tickets
for the ordinary class and upper class one day in advance of the trip as usual.
“The people can buy the advance train tickets by showing their original
citizenship scrutiny cards but not with their endorsement letter of wards
authorities,” said U Thaung Htike, superintendent of the railway station.
The
people can buy the ticket between 8 am and 12 noon daily with their ID cards.
The remaining tickets can be bought at the ticket counters of railway stations
till five minutes before departure.
The
MR is making efforts to provide train services on all routes at lower costs.
The train ticket prices were increased to 67 per cent starting this June.
The
prices are K 12,850 for the upper class (sleeper), K9,350 for the upper class
and K4,700 for the ordinary class from Nay Pyi Taw to Yangon while K8,400 for
the upper class (sleeper), K6,100 for the upper class and K3,050 for the
ordinary class of Nay Pyi Taw-Mandalay train.
The
Yangon-Mandalay express train ticket prices were increased to K 21,250 for the
upper class (sleeper) from K13,000, K15,450 for the upper class from K9,300 and
K7,750 for the ordinary class from K4,650.
Moreover,
the ticket prices of the Yangon-Mawlamyine train were K4,250 for the upper
class and K2,150 for the ordinary class and now they are K7,050 for the upper
class and K3,550 for the ordinary class. Moreover, the Yangon-Pyay train
tickets are priced at K 6,450 for the upper class and K3,250 for the ordinary
class which were K3,900 and K1,950 previously.
The
MR will expand the routes depending on the increasing numbers of passengers and
