THE Ministry of Commerce is making efforts to ensure people have access to the essential medical supplies that are critical to the COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment activities, including liquid oxygen and oxygen cylinders, by arranging continuous importation through trading posts, international airports and seaports with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
On 9 October, the three companies
imported 100 empty oxygen cylinders, 2 oxygen generators, 2,750 PPE suits and
17-tonnes of masks using five vehicles.
From 1 to 9 October, a total of 24
companies imported 78tonnes of liquid oxygen, 2 storage containers, 3 liquid
oxygen distributors, 8,692 empty oxygen cylinders, 10 oxygen plants, 2 oxygen
generators, 675 oxygen concentrators, 10,000 test kits, 2,750 PPE suits, 16
tonnes of gloves and 234 tonnes of masks using 57 trucks.
The 4 liquid oxygen Bowsers imported
from 1to 9 October were headed to Yangon and of 10 oxygen plants, 5 were
distributed to Yangon while 2 to Kume and one each to Mandalay, Homalin and
Kyondoe townships.
Officials from the relevant
departments are cooperating to facilitate and expedite the Standard Operating
Procedures (SOPs), including online registration for the import process.
It is reported that the Ministry of
Commerce is coordinating with relevant departments, treatment of COVID-19, as
well as contact persons for inquiries can be reached through the Ministry’s Website
— www.commerce.gov.mm.
