Thai authorities send back 73 trafficked people to Myanmar



THAI authorities handed over 73 Myanmar nationals, who were trafficked to Thailand, to Myanmar authorities in Myawady, Kayin State, yesterday.

The ceremony to receive the trafficked persons was held at the Thaungyin Hall in Myawady.
At the ceremony, the delegation of Thai authorities led by Inspector General, Ms. Saranpat Anumatrajakit from Ministry of Social Development and Human Security and Commissioner transferred the trafficked people to Kayin State Government’s Bamar Affairs Minister U Teza Htut Hlaing Htwe and Director-General of the Rehabilitation Department U Win Naing Tun.
Financial aid for Myanmar illegal workers under a humanitarian aid scheme, Thai authorities presented 675,500 baht from the fund of anti-Trafficking in Persons to Myanmar officials.
They are currently sheltering at the training schools of the Social Welfare Department in Myawady and Mawlamyine.
Authorities are preparing to send them back home.
