President U Myint Swe, Chairman of the Investigation Commission on Maungtaw,
held talks with Ms. Yanghee Lee, the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of
human rights in Myanmar, over alleged rapes and allegations of human rights
abuses in northern Rakhine by security forces.
Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi held talks with Ms. Yanghee Lee, the UN Special
Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Myanmar, over the peace-making
process, efforts for promoting human rights, the situation in Kachin and
northern Shan states, which saw armed conflicts recently, and promoting the
sending of humanitarian aid to the areas.
U Myint Swe addressed the opening ceremony of the 17th anniversary of Myanmar
traditional medicine practitioners’ conference held at the Myanmar
International Convention Center 2 in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning, reminding
attendees that Myanmar needs to keep up with ASEAN standards, as Myanmar
traditional medicine has been included in the agenda under negotiation to enter
the ASEAN economic circle.

A new public bus system
that reduced and coordinated the number of bus lines from more than 300 to 70
launched in Yangon yesterday, easing traffic congestion but causing some chaos
among confused passengers.
A local man was
seriously injured after stepping on a land mine in northern Shan State
yesterday. U Zaw Nyunt of Moegae Ward, Namhsam Township, who was returning from
his tea farm, was about 2,000 meters north of Namhsam Township when he stepped
