Bangladeshi shot dead for rushing into police outpost holding kirpan

One unidentified Bangladeshi was shot dead as he rushed into the police outpost of Kwuntheepin Chaungwa in Maungtaw township holding a kirpan, according to local authorities. At about 8 am on October 20, the attacker rushing into the police outpost of Maungtaw township region 3 Kwuntheepin Chaungwa holding a curved knife/kirpan when a police-man on duty shouted to surrender his weapon. But, he failed to stop, and instead rushed shouting “Allah Wakbarr” so he was shot unavoidably.


Due to the shooting, he fell down at 5 yards far from the outpost, being hit below his right chest.

According to the examination, he was a Bangladeshi aged 56, whose name was Mohamad Sharhat Arthur holding ID— 2690421588992. Together with him, ID card and one kirpan was seized. The case was filed at the Taungpyo Yar police station under section 50/A of anti-terrorism law, it was learnt.
