A local man was
seriously injured after stepping on a land mine in northern Shan State
yesterday. U Zaw Nyunt of Moegae Ward, Namhsam Township, who was returning from
his tea farm, was about 2,000 meters north of Namhsam Township when he stepped
on the mine, causing it to explode.
U Zaw Nyunt suffered
serious injuries to his right leg as a result of the explosion. The victim is
now receiving medical treatment at Lashio General Hospital.
