Ks3 billion was
contributed to the peace fund for the National Reconciliation and Peace Centre
yesterday by KBZ’s Brighter Future Myanmar (BFM) foundation.
The philanthropic
organisation said in its statement that it donated Ks3 billion to the peace
process through the fund’s account SF 004048 yesterday as part of its
contribution to the peace making process as the Government, the Tatmadaw and
the people are making efforts for national reconciliation and peace in the
country.
“Internal peace plays a
major role in building a new modern nation and we hope that peace will prevail
in the country and a modern new nation will emerge soon,” said an official of
the foundation, which has spent more than Ks114 billion so far on philanthropic
works all over Myanmar.
For people to be able
to take part in the peace process, the Republic of the Union of Myanmar
national reconciliation and peace centre announced under notification 1/2007 on
10 January that contributions could be donated into bank account SF-004048, Nay
Pyi Taw branch, Myanma Economic Bank.
The NRPC, chaired by
State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, has also said that those wishing to
donate in cash, another account, CF — 003434 — has been opened at the Nay Pyi
Taw branch of Myanma Economic Bank.
The BFM imported warm
clothes worth more than US$2 million and delivered the items to the people,
including IDPs, in areas which are expected to be hit by extremely cold weather
due to La Nina.
Last year, BFM
established a Ks100 million fund in each of 14 regions and states so that the
areas could quickly respond to natural disasters.
